The First Cambridge Gang Show 1937

Cambridge District Scout Archive

This programme for the 1937 Cambridge Gang Show lists the ‘Gang’, with A Oliver (Snowy), Miss Isaacson (Ikey) and M Claydon among the players.

Following the success of a number of full scale shows this was the first designated a ‘Gang Show’. It was held in a building called Houghton Hall, in the grounds of the Rectory garden of Our Lady and the English Martyrs. It ran for three performances and whilst the size of the venue is unclear it probably ran to smaller audiences than the 1935 ‘Censors Scissors’ the Rovers held at the Guild Hall.

A number of the participants were to die in the forthcoming war: L Jaggard, C Cook and D Brown amongst them.
