61st Cambridge (Great Shelford)
Registered 3/4/1933 the group (pack only) was very moved out of the District.

Great Shelford became the 61st Cambridge (Great Shelford) in 1933 with the IHQ number 15481. They were registered at Uplands, and the pack met on Saturday mornings.

The scarf was ‘russet’. Uplands was use for District Cub activities around this date ‘courtesy of Miss Marguerite de Beaumont’ for a Day in the Jungle. Why this experienced leader should step in is unexplained, the former CM was in residence until her marriage in 1939.

It returned census figures for

  • Cubs 1933 – 1934 , with 9 in the pack in 1933

It moved to South Cambridgeshire in the four way split of the large Cambridge District in 1935 and records relating to the group from this point were not held by Cambridge District. The name changed at this point, dropping 61st Cambridge as did the other Groups that moved out of Cambridge District.

61st Cambridge (Byron House School)

Nothing more is known about this group as the 61st. It may be either an error (Byron House School was 68th Cambridge until at least 1947.
