The following notes discuss archives that have been occasionally useful. The Links page lists many more email addresses.

These are all with regard to the search for details on scouting but the peripheral gains in understanding the era is beneficial.

1939 Census Through Ancestry.co.uk The capacity to search the whole records as a book has given, on the curtailed right hand page, information on the volunteer services undertaken by each entry. One such entry was ARP Messenger Boy Scout and whilst no other yet located give Scout it is a source of names of possible Scouts and confirms that they are all over 16.
