Evercircular letters

The Evercircular letters started as the ‘Phony War’ drew to a close and from the evidence of the letters remaining, diminished around D Day.

After the war the 23rd held a reunion, a typewritten list of 53 +4 names appear to have been the initial contact list and 71 attended the gathering for billiards, darts, light refreshments and catch ups and ‘stories’. It was held at the St Matthews Institute on 4th May 1946. One of the few remaining letters in reply indicates the difficulty of locating new addresses as ‘I got out on the 29th March’.

The Reunion was repeated on 26th April 1947 when an ‘Old Scout Association’ was planned. The Reunion was then planned to be an Annual event and the planning notes for the next on the 13th March 1948 remain.
