Born in 1866 Rev. Valentine-Richards was the Dean of Christ’s College and a biblical scholar.
Although physically weak whilst at school, he was excused football and cricket, he was an original member of the Alpine Club and contributed to books on The Central Alps. He also hosted meetings of the Cambridge University Mountaineering Club in his rooms. His obituary in the Alpine Journal in 1933 noted ‘during the last 15 years he devoted much of his spare time to Boy Scouts, to whom he passed on the mountain spirit.’
Valentine Richards was associated with 10th Cambridge, Christ’s Choir and 21st Cambridge St Faiths (school). See Reveille
